Our Purpose
The Gold Hill Airpark Homeowner’s Association is the non-profit corporation established under the Articles of Incorporation to own the common areas of the airpark, to maintain and manage the operations of the Airpark, to enhance the value and desirability of the Airpark and to provide a pleasant community in which Members may live.

President, Larry Wixom

Larry serves as the Executive Officer of the Association, answering to the Board of Directors while overseeing daily operations and ensuring the Association functions in accordance with the bylaws, covenants, and restrictions.
Before becoming President at GHAP, Larry built a distinguished 38-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He began working as an Air Traffic Controller in Wisconsin, working at several towers including Madison, WI. He later served as an Air Traffic Manager at the Champaign, IL tower before transferring to the FAA Regional Office in Atlanta, GA, where he worked in the Office of Aviation Oversight, auditing and evaluating air traffic facilities across the country.
While his FAA career was highly rewarding, Larry considers his most meaningful aviation accomplishment to be the restoration of his 1943 Beechcraft Staggerwing. Purchased as a “box of parts” in 1983, he and his family restored it to flying condition by 1986 where he also earned an award at Oshkosh that same year.
What is your advice for new residents?
“Being part of daily life here makes all the difference. The more you join in and connect with your neighbors, the more you’ll enjoy our wonderful community. We hold many events each year and encourage everyone to get involved.”

Secretary, Amy Brown

Amy manages community documents and records, prepares meeting minutes, oversees outgoing correspondence and notices, assists the President, and coordinates bidding letters for large airpark projects.
Before becoming a Secretary at GHAP, Amy dedicated all 30 years of her career to education in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in General Liberal Arts Studies from Virginia Tech, and later pursued a Master’s in Literature from Old Dominion University. Amy began teaching at Princess Anne Middle School and concluded it at Corporate Landing Middle School, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year.
In her retirement, Amy enjoys flying with her husband, David Brown, as well as reading, knitting, and rooting for her favorite sports teams. Amy is a loyal Virginia Tech supporter and Carolina Panthers fan, she especially enjoys rooting for the underdogs and loves a great comeback story.
Why did you choose to live in Gold Hill Airpark?

Treasurer, Michael Stewart
Member Since: 2011
Michael manages annual HOA dues, issues checks for community expenses, and presents yearly financial data through detailed profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Before becoming Treasurer at GHAP, Michael built a well-rounded career spanning multiple industries and leadership positions with specialties in consulting, accounting, and software engineering. Michael was the Vice President of Development and part of the Business Acquisitions Team at IBM before he retired from corporate.
Following retirement, Michael pursued his passion for aviation by founding Team AeroDynamix, the world’s largest civilian formation aerobatic team. Today, he continues his entrepreneurial journey as founder of Pilot Controlled Lighting, developing advanced airport lighting systems including runway, VASI, and PAPI approach lights.

Director-at-Large, Chris Banks

Chris participates in board meetings, provides input on matters that impact residents, and serves as a voting member when needed to represent the best interests of the airpark and its homeowners.
Before becoming Director-at-Large at GHAP, Chris began his career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. As his career continued, Chris served as a Captain, Check Airman, and Simulator Instructor Pilot at PSA Airlines (American Eagle) before joining American Airlines, where he currently serves as a First Officer on the Airbus A319, A320, and A321 fleet based in Charlotte.
In addition to his airline career, Chris founded and later sold a medical air transport company, Aviation Health Solutions, which specialized in international and domestic medical repatriation. He now teaches aviation fundamentals to hospital dispatchers, providing ground school training in aviation weather, flight planning, and safety principles.
